Free Photo Editing Giveaway

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Do you have a good photo that has the potential to be great? Maybe it just needs a little color pop or sharpening or perhaps it is screaming for a b&w conversion. My style tends to have a softer vintage quality. Below you can see a few examples where a little editing can transform a photo from snapshot to frame worthy!

This first photo was taken on an indoor studio set-up in my living room. You can see that the backdrop doesn't cover the carpet and you can see some random items in the background. Nothing a little Photoshop can't handle. I also did some slight skin smoothing and some color adjustments! HUGE difference!

This next one was done outside in a local field. It's pretty great as is so all it needed was some brightening and color adjustments. Then I did a b&w conversion because tender moments like this just HAVE to be done in b&w! It's one of my favorite images I've ever captured of my girls! So sweet!

And finally, this last image was just a snapshot I took this morning while Halle was playing in the living room with a hat she found in my closet. The color adjustments and the slight eye brightening make a huge difference!

So, who wants me to play with their photo?! If you have a photo you'd like to see edited just become a follower of the MomTog Diaries (scroll to the bottom to join) and then leave a comment on this post telling me that you'd like to be entered. Giveaway will be open until Sunday March 20th at midnight (eastern time). I'll announce the winner on Monday! If there's enough interest I'd love to make this a regular feature!

*Photos turn out best when the original is properly exposed and in focus. I prefer to edit natural light images. The pop up flash on most cameras tends to completely wash out the true colors of the subject.

  1. I would LOVE this!! We had a beautiful wedding, but we made a huge planning error. We accepted the gift of photography instead of selecting a professional photographer we loved. We received a disk of hundreds of unedited photos. I'm always so envious of people's beautiful wedding photos. This would be such a blessing!

  2. Hey Hana, I'm going to look through my pics and send you one this weekend! I bought an entry level SLR a few months ago, but I haven't had the time to play with photoshop yet. I'd love to see what you can do with my so-so shots! :)

  4. I would also love this. We surround our home with pictures of our 3 kids. I have so many that are close to my heart, yet I don't have the skill to do what you can do with your beautiful pictures. So this would be a treat!! :)

  5. What a fun feature -- I hope you make it one! Too bad I missed seeing your post over the weekend, or I would have entered as well. I've enjoyed following your blog for awhile now and am inspired by your beautiful photos. If you do it again, I'd love to see what you can do with one of my photos as well :)

  7. Hi Hana, I'm just feeling my way into photography and practice on my girls. Your post processing is amazing! Well so are your shots! I'm just curious if you always shoot in RAW? I've been reading that in order to get the most out of post-processing, that you need to shoot in RAW. Thanks! -Courtney

    1. Hi Courtney, thanks for the comment :) Yes I do always shoot in RAW format. This allows you to save all of the image's information that a jpeg will not have. For example if you have a great image that you didn't nail exposure on and it is over or underexposed you have a much better chance at saving that image in Photoshop if it was shot in RAW. At the time of this particular post almost 3 years ago I was still shooting jpeg so these images were shot in jpeg form. However I finally gave in and switched to Raw several months later. Wouldn't go back :) Good luck with your photography!!
