Crafty Inspiration

Fabric store, Oh Fabric store, How I LOVE thee, let me count the ways.....! No, really, I love going into fabric and craft stores. They are full of crafty inspiration. So many creative possibilities!! My mind goes into creative overload as I walk through and envision all of the possibilities. Well this time my creative inspiration came in the form of a fellow crafter. There I was at the cutting table of JoAnns with the mountain of my fabric selections and there she was standing next to me with her own mountain! Curiosity got the best of me and I had to ask her what she was making. It turns out that she is a fellow Etsian (seller of handmade goods on Etsy.com) and she specializes in rag garlands and tassels. We talked briefly about our handmade goods, exchanged business cards, and promised to visit each others sites. When I got home that night I of course had to look her up. I LOVED her stuff! They're definitely not for everyone but I was inspired! I wanted a garland, she didn't have any left for sale, and I didn't have the extra money to purchase one anyway. It was just the motivation I needed to make my own. So, with a few additonal fabric purchases and a couple extra items I have created my own beautiful, gorgeous, amazing, Shabby Chic, girly-girl, garland! Here it is! Ta Daaaaaaa!!!

It's a beautiful tribute to my two beautiful little girls, Halle Mae & Ella Grace! The color palette of powder pink, sage green, aqua, chocolate, and cream fits in nicely with their girl-girl bedroom! I even added ribbon, tulle, and lace for that added femininity! Plus there are little treasures hidden within the garland! It was such a fun piece to make and I can't wait to make one for my son's room! Thanks to the Nester for the fabulous inspiration!
