Fall Fashion: What to Wear for your Custom Photo Session

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

One of the most common questions that I get from a photography client prior to their session is "What should I wear?". As a general rule of thumb I suggest choosing 3 or 4 colors and coordinating them between each member of the family. I Personally find that exact matching can be a bit boring. Choosing several colors to work with gives your photos more interest and dimension. I also suggest that my clients dress in layers and accessorize to finish off their look. Jewelry, scarves, and a great pair of shoes can really help pull your look together!

When looking at a color wheel you can choose several colors next to each other to really make your clothing choices pop or you can choose complimentary colors by choosing colors that are across from each other on the wheel. Either of these methods can give you a fabulously coordinated look! Jeans and white shirts are boring...have fun with color! Oh, and another thing, make sure you dress you (and your kids especially!!) comfortably. If you aren't comfortable in your clothes you won't look relaxed and natural in your photos. Your clothing should compliment you and your personality, not take away from it! Hope these tips are helpful when selecting your next photo session wardrobe! (the fashions seen below are available at Old Navy and Gap)
