Michal: a senior portrait session

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Yesterday I had a ton of fun shooting senior portraits for my cousin Michal! She is getting ready to graduate from high school and will be heading to Campbell University in the fall. She drove in from out of town to have me do her portraits after she took a tour of Campbell. We has a blast together and I got to test out a few locations that I've had my eye on for a while! Michal, here is your sneak peek of my favorites from our session! Hope you love em'!! Thanks for making the drive to see me!

Petunia Pickle Bottom: review

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

If you have never heard of Petunia Pickle Bottom you are missing out!! As soon as I came across the PPB product line I was in love. Petunia Pickle Bottom is unique to anything on the market. They have created an exceptional line of super hip baby products for the modern mom. You no longer have to carry a diaper bag that screams, well, diaper bag! Now you can carry around a bag that is fashionable AND functional! I am especially drawn to their Cake line of bags. The cut velvet is is absolutely gorgeous!

I was soooo excited when PPB sent me the Society Satchel to review. As a mom I knew that it would be perfect for toting around the essentials that having children requires but as a photographer I was excited to try it out with my camera gear! I loved it as soon as it arrived. The color and texture is unlike any bag I have ever seen and the quality is incredible! There is nothing cheap about this bag. It is so versatile as well...PPB thought of everything when they designed it!

The bottom compartment unzips to reveal a full sized baby changing pad as well as a pocket that holds a wipes case. You can even throw in a couple diapers! This was perfect for me b/c I could keep my baby changing necessities handy while keeping the main bag free to hold my gear! Love that! Two birds with one stone....not that I would actually throw stones at birds or anything.

The main compartment is super roomy and easily fit my dSLR camera in the center pocket while the 4 "bottle pockets" are perfect to carry extra camera lenses (or bottles), an external flash, remotes, or whatever else you need at your fingertips. There is also a zippered compartment inside that is great to hold small items that you might need...for me, it's lip gloss and chapstick...several different ones actually!

The awesome thing about this bag is that you aren't just limited to carrying it with a shoulder strap. This bag gives you FOUR carrying options!! I use the shoulder strap when I'm carrying my gear but you can just as easily remove the strap and add the clutch handle to carry the bag as a tote!

If you need to be hands and arms free to carry your kids you can easily turn the bag into a backpack! How cool is that?!

And last but not least the Society Satchel comes compete with stroller straps so you can hook your bag onto your strollers handles when going for a walk! Now that is awesome!! How many other bags give you all those carrying options?! Not to mention the pockets galore. In addition to the ones I've mentioned it also has a pocket on the front of the bag with a compartment inside that is perfect for your cell phone and other items that you need quick access to. There is also a large pocket on either end of the bag that can be used for a lens, flash, or a bottle as well as two pockets on the back that I like to put extra diapers and papers in. This bag really does have it all and can be used for multiple purposes!

If you are in the market for a high quality bag with lots of options either for carrying your baby gear or to carry around your camera stuff then I highly recommend heading over to Petunia Pickle Bottom and checking out their entire line! I know for me personally that this bag has proven that you really CAN have your cake and eat it too! And, if you want to stay up-to-date with PPB discounts and giveaways become a fan on facebook or sign up to receive their mailing list!!

Beautiful Day!!

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Today is such a gorgeous day! I adore spring! I decided to take the girls over to a local garden today to enjoy the lovely weather. The trees were full of leaves, rows of freshly planted flowers were in bloom, and the sunshine was wonderful! I brought the wagon along and the girls both enjoyed the ride along the trails. Of course we stopped here and there for photo ops but for the most part we just walked around. It seems lots of other people were out doing the same thing. Here are a couple images from our outing! I hope you are having lovely weather too! Happy Thursday!

Make a wish...

PS. If you are still in need of spring portraits for your children I am still honoring my $99 Spring Photo Deal that includes 2 prints! This is the perfect time of year to have beautiful photographs taken! Contact me for more details or to book a session!

This week i ♥ faces is changing things up and the focus is desserts!! Yum! I love to photograph food especially desserts. Each time one of my children has a birthday I make it a point to take a really nice photograph of their birthday cake before we cut into it. I want to be able to look back on that photo and wish I had one more piece b/c it just looks sooo good! This one was from last year when Ella turned 1! Mmmmmm! It was just so cute and it tasted good too!

Happy 2nd Birthday Ella!

Saturday, April 10, 2010

Well today is a big day...today my baby turned 2! I'm excited but a little sad at the same time. I'm excited to watch her grow and develop but sad to say "goodbye" to the baby years. I know that in the big scheme of things that she is still a baby, still depending on me to meet her basic needs, yet she is already developing her own independence. She feeds herself, puts on her own shoes, and even puts her toys away (sometimes). She is communicating so much more and learning to use new words everyday...NO and MINE are a few of her favorites. Ha! I can't believe how much she has changed in the last 2 yrs. It's amazing! She is such a blessing and I cannot imagine life without her in it. I love you Ella Bean!! Thank you Lord for my baby girl!

Here are a few photos from Ella's big day! She had so much fun at her birthday party!

Easter

Monday, April 5, 2010

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter holiday and rejoiced in the fact that we serve a Risen Savior!! We went to church as usual and then spent a relaxed afternoon at my parents home where we enjoyed a home-cooked lunch (thanks mom!) and the kids played outside all afternoon. Here are just a handful of photos from the day...you know I took a ton but I'll spare you all 273 of them, he he! Have a wonderful Monday!

Friday, April 2, 2010

Today I had an early morning photo shoot with a sweet little girl named Sophie! She is such a doll and I enjoyed photographing her...although she wasn't too fond of me and my camera! LOL! Despite her efforts to avoid me I was able to get some beautiful images! Here are my faves! Thanks H&M for letting me photograph your sweet little girl!
