Learning the Ropes

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

I now have in my possession my sweet Nikon d90 dSLR! I am in love but I must admit that the learning curve going from a point & shoot to this is definitely a VERY steep one! There is so much to learn but I am confident and determined to catch on quickly! I skipped the automatic mode altogether and went straight to manual. I spent the early evening playing around with it while the kids were having fun outside. Here are a few of my faves. Keep in mind that these were my first photos and are completely unretouched, SOOC. Thanks to a sweet friend I have Photoshop coming soon and I look forward to using that to really making my photos POP!

  3. Those look great!! You have some pretty cute subjects too! I love the shallow depth of field you got! What lens did you use? I've great things about the 50mm primes!

When I got my DSLR last month, I tried some of the dummy modes, but they just weren't great. So I jumped into manual too. I love it. I agree thought, it has been quite a learning curve! I'm wishing the weather would warm up outside (the ultimate in lighting!) soon so I can go practice full manual mode!

  5. I have a d90, too. I love it, but do NOT do it justice. I just don't know what I'm doing - I really need to take a class or something.
