Craig's List- It's a Love/Hate Relationship

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Who is Craig? He really does have a great list. You can score some diamonds in the rough if you're persistent and hunt through it regularly. I placed an ad several days ago looking for a carpenter to build me a farm table. I received around 10 responses the first day! Some people offered to build the table while others offered to supply the wood needed for my project. I'm not even sure if a custom table is within my budget but thought I'd give it a shot and see what I could come up with. One of my ad responders referred me to a local 3rd generation carpenter. I gave him a call. He was really nice and seemed open to my ideas. I sent him this inspiration board...

I told him that I liked the overall style and distressed paint job on the top two tables and that I love the finishes on the bottom two tabletops. I'm on a small budget so I'm anxious to see what numbers he comes back with. Crossing my fingers. If this works out it will be another SCORE from Craig's List!

The downside to Craig's List? A lot of no shows and wishy washy shoppers. Needless to say my current dining set is still in my home despite numerous "I want it, I have cash, and I'm on my way to get it" responses. Anyone reading need a beautiful, previously loved dining set for a great deal? I'm sure the shipping won't be that bad! If you're local "Come & get it!!"

  1. I love Craig...and his list. However I have the opposite problem. I can't get sellers to respond to me. And I do have cash. And can't wait to pick it up. Ya know what I mean? :)
